We traveled to Frome Town Archers for our much anticipated semi-final match on Wednesday 31st July and there were 2 winners, firstly our sport and then our club!
The aims of the competition are to encourage clubs to meet each other, share ideas and hopefully improve cooperation between clubs as well as encouraging different types of competition. Representatives met in the afternoon and the competition took place in the evening, our hosts made us very welcome, provided great refreshments and despite very blustery conditions spent a great evening shooting and socializing. Our thanks go to Frome for the way they looked after us and especially to Ian Crook who organizing the fixture! We will be getting back together this winter to hold a bigger shoot between the two clubs!
The match was conducted in a friendly manner and there was some good shooting in the conditions. The competition is open to seniors and juniors but we fielded an entirely junior team with an average age of just 15. We ran out winners by 14 points to 7, winning all 4 of the Head to Head matches! Well done to Chloe, Lucy, Tom & James for representing the club so well and to our supporters who made the trip.
The other semi-final is between Norton Archers (Stockton-on-Tees) & Durham City Archers.

Coaching Course
The first Level 1 Course was advertised (we have now fixed a second) and the response for places has been amazing, with nearly 40 people registering their interest, from clubs both in and out of county and also external to the sport! We have some hard decisions to make but a club and a recreation centre have shown a willingness to organize additional courses!

All those members that have attended 3 times or less per month, have been contacted and invited to a session on the 5th August, starting at 6pm at Bubbs Hill and the response has been amazing! We look forward to the session and rekindling that passion for archery!
EGM
An EGM has been called for Thursday 22nd August to discuss constitutional amendments in support of our aspirations to further develop our club and facilities. All members have been sent details. The proposed changes are not intended to change the spirit of the club but to facilitate us meeting the requirements to become a CASC (Community Amateur Sports club) and better define types of membership including Volunteer and Associate.
Radio
We had some excellent coverage on both Radio Gloucestershire and Heart FM last week, the interviews were both different but were triggered by the anniversary of the Olympics and the recognition that archery has benefited from increased levels of participation more than most sports, particularly in Gloucestershire! Well done to all the juniors that took part and to the 2 Daves, Sandles and Ponton! Also to Phoebe and Lucy.
Talent ID Programme
Well done to all our juniors that participated but also to Archery GB, all those that attended were impressed with the organization on the day and have certainly been inspired to become involved in the process.

Gloucestershire Echo ? Launch of the 2013 Media awards
This years? programme was launched today at the Warehouse Climbing Centre. The Echo and associated papers do a great job in promoting local sport and have certainly helped us to promote our achievements over the years. Only this week in the Wednesday ?Young Sport? section there was an excellent article on Lucy Mason! Lets hope we can land another award this year!

Artificial Potholing Tubes
Sometime in the next 2 weeks a large amount of tubes will arrive to create a potholing course at the top of the grass sledging slope. When they arrive I am looking for volunteers to help move the tubes and assemble the course. Please let me know if you would like to help, your reward will be to get to try it! Waist sizes of 42?? or more are welcome to help, however it may be prudent for them not to try the course!
